Four Cases of Active Chronic Hepatitis

Abstract
Four cases with active chronic hepatitis. who admitted to Seoul National University Hospital from I February 1971 to July 1971, are presented, and current literatures are briefly reviewed. I They are all young males except one man, who is 42 years old in age. They had been suffered from frequent indigestion, fluctuating jaundice, frequent epistaxis, gum bleeding, and easy fatigability since about 1 to 2 years ago. No significant findings in their past and family history could be seen.
On the physical examinations, there were moderate degree of acne on the face, jaundice in sclera, scattered spider angioma on the body, and hepatosplenomegaly. The results of the routine laboratory tests were as follows; increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate, diminished platelet count and prothrombin time, prolonged coagulation time, moderately increased level of bilirubin, C. C. F., T. T. T., alkaline phosphatase, S. G. O. T. & S. G. P. T., retention of B. S. P. excretion, and hypoalbuminemia. The serologic tests revealed reactive latex test, negative V. D. R. L. , negative L. E. cell test, and h¡þypergammaglobulinemia by immune electrophoresis. Liver biopsy was the confirmatory procedure for the diagnosis of all the patients.
